Dholera, a small town in Gujarat, has been making headlines due to the ambitious Dholera Smart City project. Spearheaded by the Government of Gujarat, this project aims to create a world-class, sustainable city that is technologically advanced and offers a high quality of life. Located in the Ahmedabad district, about 100 kilometers southwest, the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) is a Greenfield industrial city that was announced in 2013 by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
The project is a joint initiative between the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat and is being developed with a futuristic vision. Divided into six town planning schemes, Dholera Smart City includes residential, commercial, industrial, and public utility zones. It is expected to feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, with world-class roads, airports, seaports, and high-speed rail connectivity.
